Innovator series #10

Dr. Chetan Nayak on Microsoft’s path to topological quantum computing

In this video, Chetan Nayak discusses the latest research and engineering advancements on Microsoft’s path to topological quantum computing. This episode explores:

  • The promise of topological qubits and how their unique properties can provide built-in protection against errors, paving the way for scalable, fault-tolerant quantum systems.

  • Breakthrough measurements that validate the approach, including recent experiments demonstrating key operations such as distinct fermion parity measurements.

  • Materials and device innovations that enable the creation of topological phases and Majorana zero modes at the heart of this architecture.

  • A behind-the-scenes tour of the Microsoft Quantum lab in Redmond.
